Monitoring fluid migration using in-situ nuclear magnetic resonance core flooding system integrated with fiber optic sensors: A proof of concept

چکیده
In-situ nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) core flooding system has enabled researchers to monitor several rock properties such as porosity, pore size distribution, and fluid saturation along the tested samples with high resolutions under reservoir conditions. However, spatially resolved strength/mechanical property alteration coupled migration/substitution remains poorly characterized. To this end, Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) multiplex sensors were integrated NMR strength changes, or generally speaking, observe hydro-mechanical-chemical coupling mechanisms during tests. In study, we present a novel approach on how conduct experiments, while simultaneously monitoring FBG strain response of limestone plug. The cell was modified integrate technology without impeding signal pressure/temperature capacity. A spatial resolution optical fiber attached onto sample radial surface. results show successful association track any change at each stage brine injection. is capable measuring variations induced by rock-fluid interactions injection, allowing it capture front location faster rate than NMR.

Fiber Optic Fabry-Perot Current Sensor Integrated with Magnetic Fluid Using a Fiber Bragg Grating Demodulation
An optical fiber current sensor based on Fabry-Perot interferometer using a fiber Bragg grating demodulation is proposed. Magnetic fluid is used as a sensitive medium in fiber optical Fabry-Perot (F-P) cavity for the optical characteristic of magnetic-controlled refractive index. A Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is connected after the F-P interferometer which is used to reflect the optical power at ...
متن کاملEnhanced Pipeline Monitoring with Fiber Optic Sensors
Pipelines are efficient, highly reliable and safe means of transportation. However, although the number of leaks could be reduced since the early 70’s of the last century due to improved design and maintenance procedures as well as improved materials, leaks still appear. Most of these are originated by external causes such as digging excavators or slope movements despite intensive pipeline righ...
متن کاملAnalysis of Cerebrospinal Fluid in Diagnosis of Bacterial Meningitis; Using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy: A Systematic Review
Background: Analysis of biofluids provides a unique window into the biochemical status of a living organism since the composition of a given biofluid will be modulated according to the level of function of the cells that are intimately concerned with its manufacture and secretion. One of the most successful approaches to biofluid analysis has been the application of NMR spectroscopy. Objective...
متن کاملVibration Monitoring Using Fiber Optic Sensors in a Lead-Bismuth Eutectic Cooled Nuclear Fuel Assembly
Excessive fuel assembly vibrations in nuclear reactor cores should be avoided in order not to compromise the lifetime of the assembly and in order to prevent the occurrence of safety hazards. This issue is particularly relevant to new reactor designs that use liquid metal coolants, such as, for example, a molten lead-bismuth eutectic. The flow of molten heavy metal around and through the fuel a...
متن کاملMonitoring of Railway Deformations using Distributed Fiber Optic Sensors
Natural phenomena like earthquakes, landslides, avalanches or mud flows can cause severe damages of railway tracks. Today’s monitoring concepts either focus on a permanent monitoring of known problematic sites or an epochwise measurement of the railway track with special measurement cars. In this paper we present a new approach for continuous monitoring of railway tracks over long distances. Th...
